Cool story. Bura seems sooo much better than virtanen, so you guys can keep him.
I hope they do, and as bad as this season is going, their motivation to trade him for someone not as good who's not slumping right now is probably disappearing by the day.
Edit: I do think this is a win-win trade, though, because the Caps need a bottom six stalwart, and Virtanen hits a lot, with some upside. The Canucks reportedly inquired about Burakovsky to add a top line wing and help fellow-Swede Pettersson make a push for rookie of the year.
Burakovsky is outscoring Virtanen in their last fifteen games, four points to two. Virtanen's current stretch of just two points in fifteen games is tied with the awful start to this season that made Burakovsky the laughingstock of this web site.
I wouldn't think either team would want to value either player based on a weak month, but instead I think each team should look at its own puzzle of how to be a successful team and see who fits better, where. If Vancouver is better off with Burakovsky, but needs to make up the lost hits, I wonder if the Caps could add in a tough checking forward prospect like O'Brien, to balance out the difference.
