Seems like a lot to give up for a rental, unless you are quite sure he will resign.

Other than that, doesn't seem too bad.

If he is extended at the time of the trade I like it, if not I’d take my chances July 1st

It's a good offer. I'd probably make the picks conditional, like OTT receives 2019 2nd round pick and 2020 3rd round pick, and if Stone re-signs before the draft, the pick conveys into 2019 1st rounder, and if Stone re-signs after the draft, OTT receives 2020 1st rounder. Then we wouldn't lose too much value if Stone decides to walk, and OTT has all the chances to get even more value then.

There is no chance of Ottawa takes a conditional 1st rounder in a Stone trade. Robertson and the 1st is the starting point. You can make the 3rd rounder conditional upon resigning though.

Probably true. Although knowing Dorion he'll most likely sell him way under his value. Just like he did with Karlsson. We're talking about a pretty incompetent GM.

This is a good deal, id seriously consider puilling it if Stone doesn't want to stay in Ottawa. Put Stone on your 2nd line and he automatically elevates whichever players are on that line so, your 2nd line will become pretty good

IF they're actually are moving Stone even an incompetent GM couldn't mess it up because enough teams will want him and they'll outbid each other. All Dorion needs to do is pick the best offer.

A lot of people **** on the Karlsson trade but judging the return NOW is ridiculous. You have to wait until at least 2021 to look at in anyway that you could call fair. They got a 2020 1st round pick, Norris (a 2017 1st round pick), other conditional picks, a decent prospect in Balcers, and two young players who are already contributing in DeMelo, and Tierney. Sad to see EK go but I wouldn't say Ottawa got fleeced. The Hoffman trade on the other hand...

You also can't forget Ottawa doesn't have the luxury to demand anything, they are at a point where they don't get to choose if he stays or not, and it's a Half-Year Rental a Conditional First is better than nothing. If not Dallas can kindly decline and just sign him on July 1st no problem just beats out Ottawa all the way and Ottawa loses out on any value to begin with.

Man they are going to lose hoffman , karlsson and stone and Duchenne and then get the top pick which ends up putting Jack Hughes in Colorado. Has any team has a worse run than that. Might as well move them to Kansas city or Hartford now. It's over for a while in Ottawa.

So you think Dallas will be the only team trying to land Mark Stone at deadline in order to add a beast for their playoff run and then have months to negotiate an extension while they hold his exclusive rights? Cool. Good luck with that.

No they won't be the only one, but I can assure you no one is going to offer more than a conditional first.

Good Luck trying to get that Guaranteed first for a half year rental when he might not re-sign.

Winnipeg will make an offer for at least their 1st for Stone. They have already made that pick available.

Yes, but Ottawa is going to want them to add Vesalainen Roslovic Appleton+ so they will just turn them down and take their chances July 1st.

Him with Benn and one of the best defensive forwards in the game in Radek Faksa is gonna be lights out for this Stars team
