Description
Gonna try this again.

If Babcock can use Hainsey on the third pairing at a fraction of his ice time, then he may be useful there. However, I would still trade Hainsey if Babcock continues to give him top pairing minutes. I don't think the Leafs need to waste any assets to make another blockbuster trade for a big time D. Instead, need to get rid of some of Babcocks toys and promote from within the organization. I think this would be a huge noticeable improvement. Zaitsev and Hainsey are huge liabilities. There is NO WAY we go into the playoffs with those guys. Just no way.

If the leafs are not going to use Justin Holl, either trade him or put him on waivers. Its just unfair at this point.

I do think Justin Holl would be a better option than both those players.

I also think trading Brown before the deadline to get something back is important because we can't have a 2million dollar player on the fourth line next season. Just can't. Also, Trevor Moore is better and that would be another upgrade.

Trade Brown for a low cost D option like Nick Jensen and recall Moore.

This is how I would go into the playoffs.

Have some more coffee and try again. Hainsey is fine on the 3rd pair plus he has won a cup and can play the PK. Holl has barely played this year and you want him to step in for a playoff run over a proven player. Not going to happen.

I have no problem with the addition of Jensen, but I am not sure he is a top-4 on a good team. He'd basically come in to replace Hainsey, which doesn't seem like a tremendous upgrade to me. If the Leafs actually were able to get rid of Zaitsev, an upgrade would be something like Josh Manson. He'd be an expensive upgrade, but at least he wouldn't be a rental. As well, I don't think Connor Brown gets dealt until after the season ends. He's a hustler and a pretty decent penalty-killer. The Leafs can afford his contract this year, it's next year and beyond that's the problem.
