Description

Oilers get a new winger for Connor Mcdavid in Brown. The two were really good together in Erie. Zaitsev can QB a pp. He did it in his first season as a leaf. And just this past summer he put up 8 points in 8 games at the world championships. The Leafs once Marleau's contract expires in 2020, they could target a RHD like Pietrangelo or Barrie. Left wingers such as Hall, Krieder, Hoffman, Vesey, and Dadonov are also going to be available.

Edmonton already has Kris Russell, they're not taking Zaitsev too even if they weren't struggling with the cap and NMCs

Good attempt, just try to stick with the teams that have (a) the most cap room, and (b) are the furthest away from being Cup contenders

OTT / PHI / MTL / VAN / NYI / COL / NJD / CAR have the most cap space

from those
OTT / PHI / NJD
are the furthest from the playoffs

If you don't trade Zaitsev now, he can block trades to 10 teams (eg: those with $6 million or less of cap space this year) and he is under contract until age 32.

NJD are our best hope. We can bundle an overpayment to dump Zaitsev as part of a deal to maybe get Vatanen or Severson, and stay near our current salary.

Lol I completely forgot Russel existed. I still think Brown to Edmonton is a really good fit. He'd probably be their best winger.
