Description
Not saying that Kapanen is guaranteed to sign for $4 mil but why wouldn't a team with a lot of cap space (Vancouver) take a shot at an offer sheet with a quality young player when they know Toronto is going to have a tough time making their cap for next season work? Thoughts?

seems about right. some team should offer sheet johnsson too. leafs are cap tight. and a 2nd rd pick for a 40 point winger. not bad.

This is such a Jim Benning and dumb signing. He's great at drafting, but terrible at handing out terrible contracts (Erikkson, Sutter, Gudbranson, Markatrom, etc) .. anyone that thinks any team is going to offer Kapanen $4M+ on a long term deal is stupid. He doesn't even have 50 career points yet. He'll be signing in Toronto for less than $3.5M on a 2-3 year bridge deal. That's his fair market value.

leafs commited 10 mill on a 60 point winger fam. plus leafs cant offer him anything over 3 most likely. offer him 3.5 and its game as well

Nylander? Lol you're dumb. His cap hit is that high this season cause it was pro rated for being signed late. Every year after it's $6.9. Also worth nothing, he had multiple 60 point seasons, and as I said Kapanen doesn't even have 50 career points. Go home kid.

i just checked ur previous arm chair gm teams LMAO. calling me a kid. gaudreau had 2 60 plus point seasons and signed for less. 100% the leafs overpaid him. ur just senti that u cant keep depth next year cause ur gonna have 3 guys making 11 mill, and on top of that andersen and rielly also need contracts 3 years from now tears of joy 0 cap space

Here's my take...if the leafs and Kapanen aren't progressing on an extension...offer sheets may very well be in play for him....but at just a 2nd rounder as the likely compensation, I would think there'd be about 15 GM's calling Kyle and offering more so that they can trade for his rights and be the team to sign him

You guys are also forgetting that offer sheet compensation will increase next year. Your basing the 2nd round pick compensation for a $4M contract from last years offer sheet rules.

Just google offer sheet compensation by year. They increase every year.
