Deadline AZ WPG COL MIN

Created by: CuyahogaKid
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2019
Published: Feb. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
****Guhle stays down on the 23 man roster but is the next man up if an injury occurs.

No deal for Minnesota here, but interest in Coyle is there as well.....However, with the Wild currently in playoff position, I have a feeling a Coyle deal could wait until the offseason and Minnesota may be reluctant to deal with a team that the Sabres are helping to knock them out of the playoffs in Colorado
Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Wilson, Colin
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (OTT)
  3. 2020 4th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Colin Wilson is a player Phil Housley knows from Nashville, good middle six two way player from Nashville. Boston University alum a bonus to fit in to the room. Has been known as Colorado's "team dad" in the room. Rental and probably equal value to Scandella

2020 4th is conditional based on Conor Sheary's performance. If he scores 50pts, 2020 4th will convert to a 2020 3rd round pick.
COL
  1. Scandella, Marco
  2. Sheary, Conor
Additional Details:
Colorado could be looking for middle six winger help as well as a veteran defenseman capable of alleviating some of the big minutes placed on Johnson or Cole
2.
BUF
  1. Pánik, Richard
Additional Details:
Charlie Coyle from Minnesota would be the player i'd like to add, but with Coyle playing well of late, and with Minnesota currently in a playoff spot, I have a feeling Coyle could be staying put.

Panik is right priced, and fills a need, as a power forward, as he only costs a third round pick. He is a great possession player, great two way forward and great value,

Panik also replaces Sheary in the lineup production wise....as well as being the guy on the roster with the Stanley Cup ring.
ARI
  1. 2019 3rd round pick (BUF)
3.
BUF
  1. 2019 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Can be upgraded to a Conditional 4th round pick if Calgary wins the Stanley Cup, or Beaulieu is rostered for 2019-20 season.
CGY
  1. Beaulieu, Nathan
Additional Details:
This deal opens a door for Brendan Guhle to be promoted to the NHL. Just as moving Sheary off the roster hopefully opens a bigger door for CJ Smith to stay and play more minutes.

Idk why, but despite CJ Smith's AHL production, point per game and 2 goals in 5 appearences with the Sabres this year, Phil Housley seems content on only playing him 9 minutes a night. He should get more of a look.
4.
BUF
  1. Petan, Nicolas
Additional Details:
2021 pick is conditional and can be upgraded to a 2021 3rd
WPG
  1. Girgensons, Zemgus
  2. 2019 4th round pick (SJS)
  3. 2021 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Conditional 2021 3rd or 4th round pick if Petan plays 50 games in 2020, and/or reaches 40 points.

Defensive minded grinder included for playoff run

We are in a playoff spot, but Koivu is now out for the season with a torn MCL and meniscus, per Michael Russo. I think there's an extremely high chance we sell off most, if not all, of our players that are either UFA's, or are under contract one additional year.

I mean if you're in the spot, you may as well ride it out with anyone who has a year left, sell of the UFA's and wait unless you get a great offer for Coyle like a late first. I'd love to have him, he's definetly first on my list for a wide variety of reasons for the size, versatility etc...

I'd rather not make the playoffs only to exit in the first round again. I actually like Coyle a lot (I own his jersey) and I think if Wild fans accepted him for what he is (solid middle 6 C/RW) instead of the sunk cost fallacy from trading away Brent Burns and thinking he'd be our future 1C, most fans would probably like him a lot. But the fact is this team has no superstar talents and we are in dire need of some good prospects through the draft this year.

I like the Winnipeg deal. I think all players and teams benefit from that one.

It’s tough to get a lot in return for a guy who hasn’t produced but he is buried on that roster. Nobody wants to trade a young player only to have him play well somewhere else, but I think he’s a guy Buffalo should be looking at and if Winnipeg should get something in return. I’d immediately play him as a middle six center or wing. These types of guys typically go for higher mid round picks.

I don’t really wanna trade Girgensons given he’s such a good checker and pk guy but I have plenty of guys who can do that....I need to score

i cant see petan sitting above Mittelstadt in depth next year or this. he would probable slide to 3c and be good there. I cant see the moves being a huge boon to team this year but a decent step forward overall.

3C or kicking backout to left wing for sure in the top 6.

The question is if we acquired him no matter where he plays, does he get the minutes
