Is this enough for Granlund

Comment to the trade: Don't think Pelech should be overlooked. I think that makes MIN more comfortable moving (spitballing) Brodin or Spurgeon as part of their retool.

Would be fine with either in the trade. Granlund would be a nice addition for the team

NYI has Ladd until age 37 and Boychuk until age 38, are you sure you want Granlund until age 34 as well?

I'd think it's safer to get out of the Leafs way and try to win while they're resetting after their first couple Stanley Cups under Tavares

Besides, the Islanders are where they are because they have allowed the fewest goals this season. They'll spend all their cap space just to keep Robin Lehner, while trying not to lose too many key free agents that are due for raises anytime inside the next 3.5 seasons of cap hell

Just trade Pulock, Mayfield, and Barzal to the Leafs for Nylander and Zaitsev. grin

Mikael Granlund is 26. Nobody is getting out of Toronto's way. And it's ironic trying to call another teams situation "cap hell". Sign Marner and have fun fielding an 18 man team

Haha. I made a big mistake.

I was looking at Josh Bailey's age 29 + 5 more seasons. Sorry about that one point.

Still it's 4 years of patience to wait out current contracts and let Barzal lead, or get Granlund and suffer 8 years of falling short of being a contender while Barzal leaves.

I would take it if I were Fenton. Nice package.

I will say this, though, despite CF listing him as a center you do NOT want Granlund playing center. He was awful there before we moved him to RW almost 3 years ago and saw him break out into the 60+ point player he is now. This probably makes NYI less willing to acquire him, since I think they should add more center depth over winger depth.

Eberle leaving will clear up more than enough space to accommodate Barzal and Lehner. If we want to keep Barzal, we have to learn from our mistake with Tavares. If all you can offer your Star #1 Center is a big contract and "a bright future when you look at the prospects", expect that Star Center to walk. Earn their loyalty by getting them into the playoffs every single post season. "Getting out of the Leafs' way" is a losing mentality that would make Barzal leave in two years. And would you blame him?
