Trade Deadline

Created by: Rooney
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2019
Published: Feb. 8, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I keep going back on forth value-wise on Kevin Hayes. But, I compared this trade to Stastny as a starter.

My thoughts:

1st round pick is non-negotiable.
3rd round pick is an upgrade from 4th sent in Stastny deal.
David Gustafsson is Winnipeg's 2nd round pick from 2018, and a definite upgrade from Erik Foley sent as part of Stastny deal.

Would this be enough to acquire Hayes? Feel free to leave your thoughts/suggestions.

As a Jets fan, I would not pay that much for Kevin Hayes.

There was no 4th rounder sent to STL in the end as Foley signed with STL, it's now in MTL hands.... Gustafsson is way better than Foley....Hayes is not worth a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder.

The Jets basically traded a 1st rounder and a 4th rounder for Stastny and cash(half of his 7.5M salary cap amount)

The 4th that went in the Stastny deal was a conditional pick so don't know why there'd be any extra picks going for Hayes.
Also why give away Petan to the Oilers?
He's a good cheap depth piece they're gonna need next season when some guys are lost due to cap constraints. Why Jets fans want to give away players I'll never understand.

My bad on the 4th rounder, my mistake! I initally had 1st, 3rd and Petan for Hayes...would that be any better? I traded Petan to the Oilers because he has absolutely no shot of cracking the Jets line up unless and injury happens. Playing on the 4th line is not where Petan needs to be to be successful. With Vesalainen coming next season, Petan is as good as gone. Winnipeg is currently trying to move him as well.

Also, as a Jets fan, I do not want to pay that much for Hayes either, but I figure it will take around that given the teams that are interested as well...but I could be wrong (and I hope I am).

I agree about Petan but I'd never trade with the Oilers.
I think a 1st and a 3rd is plenty for Hayes.

Petan traded in the offseason....maybe as a throw in with Kulikov or something....1st and either a third or a college prospect is a good return for Hayes

Heard today on TSN the asking price for Stone and Duchene is a 1st, A-grade prospect, young roster player and a later pick or B-grade prospect. Would you want your team to give up that much? I sure wouldn't.

1st, Apples, Petan and Foley jr(a player that will never play for us who is in college)

I don't mind that exactly.....I mean I still would rather get Staal for a 2nd rounder and a b prospect

Hell no I wouldn't, that's why I think Hayes is the best option. Won't cost as much as Stone or Duchene, but still a great option at centre.

No its more like a 1st, Vesalainen, Appleton and a 4th is what they're looking for, still think it's worth it?
I sure as he!! don't.

if that's the price for duchene, the price for hayes will be comparable to the market. He will go for less, but Vesalainen straight up isn't out of the question for him. Still a lot better than Ves, Appleton, +1st for duchene
