Looks like fair value to me (if anything an overpay) but I am going to assume this trade would happen at the draft. So what is with all the Laine trades? Did some idiot start a rumour?

Why would they not keep Laine? What did I miss?

Laine is second in goals since he joined the league.

http://hkref.com/tiny/tNc9y

He's on pace to have a better career than any hb outside of maybe Carey Price. He's a 21 year old having a ****ty year and still may hit 40 goals.

To get him think Kotkaneimi, Drouin and a couple firsts.

I agree. This Laine non sense needs to stop. The guy goes through a dry spell at the age of 20 and everyone thinks he's garbage all of a sudden? even when he's on pace for 40 goals? rolling eyes

Lets all do the math on this shall we?

Pacioretty = Tatar, Suzuki, 2nd

So Laine = Pacioretty, Juulsen, Hudon, 1st??

Come on people. Wake up.

Let's compare KK (I assume you are referring to Jasperi Kotkaneimi, though i can't figure out why he would be kk and not Jk) and Laine's first seasons

Laine 36 g 64 pts in 73 gp
Kotkaneimi 10 g 27 pts in 55 go

So not in the same stratosphere.

Laine would be the teams leading scorer in every year he has been in the league even this ****ty one.

It's not close to fair value. Laine is looking like one of the best goal scorers of this generation and is 21. It should take a king's ransom to get him.

Not sure why everyone wants Laine he’s absolutely horrendous defensively sure he scores goals but do you really want to give up a bunch of first round picks and pay a guy 9.5 million dollars when his career plus/minus is even (playing on one of the best teams in the nhl) sounds not very smart to me

Here are the Habs top scorers by age 20 (http://hkref.com/tiny/On0im). Tremblay has 50. Henri Richard 37

Laine? 105!!!!!

http://hkref.com/tiny/3KDIu (that's Finn's 20 or younger. Check out how he compares there)

You may say that people used to join later

Here are the most goals scored by a habit in the first three seasons of their career. http://hkref.com/tiny/M8YzZ

The first is Naslund with 97, then the rocket himself with 95.

Laine is that good.

Yea but he did other things like skate hard and lay the body Laine only has a good shot and good offensive awareness that’s it doesn’t win puck battles doesnt use his big body to his advantage he’s slow or at least looks slow

Here's another. Laine had 44 goals last year as a sophomore.

Do you know who the last Hab to have 44 or more goals was?

Richter in the 1989 1990 season. http://hkref.com/tiny/TJmMv (he had 51. Great season. Higher scoring game)

Do you know who the last Hab to have 44 or more before 20? NOBODY. EVER.

Laine going to take 4 firsts and a offer sheet to pry him from wpg, and even in a so called ****ty year, he would still be leading mtl in goals

You'd need 4 1sts value but I would take a package of prospects and picks instead of the offersheet. I'd request:

- Suzuki, Josh Brook, 2019 1st & 2020 1st. Adds a future top 6 C to replace Little and a RHD (from Manitoba) that is trending really strongly that could be a future replacement for Buff. Plus two 1st round picks that we could then use to acquire a RHD replacement for Trouba (if needed).

Yep. There are a couple of them on here lately that like to conspire together to convince themselves of things like this. I do however blame the over exaggeration on Habs player values from last year like Pacioretty and Galchenyuk for example as potential reasoning to flip the script this year since the Habs are playing really well and other teams might not be.

That is the single most anything this on this site when it comes to people posting. It has nothing to do with anything. Whose the flavor of the month. That's all that matters.

Your player is having a good season? He's worth McDavid and a 1st.
Your player is having a bad season? "Pfff I'll give you Lucic and Phaneuf for him."

Ya a couple past 1sts and a couple future firsts works too, but some collection of that, not this two firsts a second and a third that I have been seeing, I think niku is part of the replacement thought on the right side and along with the growth of morrows game helps too for replacing Myers and or trouba
