The prices for players are pretty reasonable, but I don't think the term on those contracts would be advisable for the Devils. I don't see stop-gap guys like Boedker, Schlemko, Demers, and McGinn getting 3+ years from a team that doesn't really know what its future looks like. I also don't think the Devils are planning on giving Smith-Pelly 3 years after only 18 games with the team, and (as sad as it is), I don't think Elias has anything left in him. Even if he does come back for 2016-17, it will be on a one-year contract.

i was more worried about the contract costs than the contract lengths.
