Montreal gets a Fan Favorite in Dale Weise who put up 30 points in his last season in Montreal. They get Folin who Philadelphia retains 19% on (Byron and him basically swap contracts). Weise is going to the AHL. Folin can play on the 3rd pairing and we can send down Alzner to play in Laval.

Philadelphia gets David Schlemko who was buried in the Minors. but can be a #7 defensemen if he can stay healthy. They also get Byron Froese who was Laval's captain, good leadership for the Phantoms.

I would say this is a null trade unless Weise can rejuvenate his career with Montreal.

Pretty even trade ... i guess. Sad that it never worked out with Schlemko in MTL, though it was a good pick up back then. Well it happens. In the end no clear winner for either team in my humble opinion.

Welcome back Dale.

Canadiens get a guy that’s great in the room, and might be an ok call up, and a 7th defenseman for 2 players that would never play for them again. I’d say the Habs win this deal, since Folin>Schlemko and Weise>Froese (both slightly).

I would say Schlemko > Folin. It's just that Schlemko is always injured.

Weise must be jumping for joy right now lol Going back to the only place he ever had success.

Happy to be rid of Schlemko and his contract, you get back Weise’s contract, but by any chances he plays like he did with the Habs 1st time around. It’ll be worth it. If not, bury him in Laval and it’s no biggy.

Any Flyers fans can give me a scouting report on Folin?

Remember when we all thought Bergevin was one of the worst GM's in the league? Well, he has certainly redeemed himself. Big win for MTL.

Marc Bergevin just fleeced the Chicago Blackhawks two years ago. The trade was: Phillip Danault (who was a number 4 center at the time) and a second round pick for Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann. Now the trade looks like: Phillip Danault (who is now a number 2 center), Alexander Romanov (who dominated in the world juniors) and now they get Dale Weise back (who has played the best hockey of his carrer in Montreal). What a difference two years can make for both teams.

I don't understand how the voting is so lopsided... seems like a pretty even deal.

I guess people are cashing in on Weise becoming the 30 Point scorer again.

Montreal is getting two fringe NHL players while Philadelphia is getting 2 AHLers

Philly got themselves some needed Defensive depth and got rid of Weise who I think a lot of people wanted gone.

Folin > Schlemko.

They got rid of a terrible contract and took on a terrible contract.

People aren't going to be very found of Schlemko.

No, but he brings some defensive depth the team needed. and folin needed a change of scenery anyway.

Depth final guy meaning depth. They want to start younger guys Folin wasn't letting that happen.

BRUHHH

They got rid of a 28 YO defensemen and got a 31 YO defensemen with an awful contract. I think you are trying to say Schlemko has cleared waivers so he can go to the AHL, but Folin would've cleared.

When Weise was put on waivers JAN 15th after Schlemko Jan 7th, many Habs fans (4-5) suggested a Weise-Schlemko trade on Armchair-GM.

There was a lot of bashing on Habs fans: "Philly would never do that! Keep your trash! ".

How do ya like them apples?
