Don't trade Bracco. There is a player there and we will need him to be cheap depth in the near future.

Dubas was correct and honest when he said he would sign "everyone". It's just that he can't keep everyone. I suggest, forget the trade, and the Leafs are 2.5m over the cap with a 20 man roster.
Trade Nylander for ELCs or picks and the Leafs have 4.5m to spend with four players to fill the roster. Marchment, Lindholm, Ennis, that's 2.8m, which leaves 1.7m for a Dman.
And a Marleau retirement....which I think is very possible now, well that's another 6.25m.

I like the trade if u can get rid of Z with it. we have a lot of cheap depth forwards (engvall, marchment etc...).

That trade does nothing for Carolina right now and is a bad overpay for the Leafs.

Bracco makes the Leafs next year, the rest don't.
Carolina wants to move RD for a top six forward. Not Zaitsev. Think Kadri to Carolina for Pesce and Zaitsev anywhere that needs him.

I highly doubt Leafs would be willing to part ways with another 1st round draft pick. If upgrades are to be made at/by the deadline, I would expect it to be prospects and roster players (if there spots could be immediately filled) with a player coming in that has some term left. That is the same reason why I don't think Leafs acquire Ferland or Simmonds. Pesce is ideal because of term of cap hit, IF Zaitsev moves, and I don't mind including Bracco, since he will be blocked anyway, but not the 1st.
