They've been mediocre since before Christmas and can't take a single playoff run for granted. Their 3rd line gets stronger, their 2nd pairing gets stronger, and they clear Brown plus a half million for next year.

Pesce is underrated one of the best defensive Defenseman. Carolina can get another person who scoring. You don't have anyone to replace his defense.

You may not get the defensive game, but you improve your offense. Nylander can score, but struggling right now because he decided to sit out two months. Nylander isn't Tarasenko by any means, but remember when people were saying he couldn't score any more and is regressing? You defended him pretty hard saying it was just a bad year. Nylander is having a bad year as well.

Yeah he is having a bad year no doubt, but I wouldn't want to pay that hefty bonus with the risk.

I know Nylander will be better, but at this point the season is lost for him, and also the fact that the bonus is going to be hefty on the Hurricanes pockets.

If they don't want to pay a bonus they better trade Aho now because he's probably going to want a bigger bonus than Nylander. Aho could easily have justas bad of a year.

Well, it's less than than that cause you still gotta fill one position because you've traded two players for one. Still the Leafs would be looking to move over 4m next year. Nylander is having a tough enough problem this year, I wouldn't trust in at centre....at least this year.
But why I really don't think it's a good deal for the Leafs this year. You lose Kadri at centre, plus Brown. Having Pesce on defence replacing Zaitsev or Hainsey just isn't worth Kadri and Brown...this season.

They'll pay it because whether they like or not, that's the new NHL. Players want the money up front now instead of spreading it out over the course of the year.

Scoring isn't that easy to come by and guys seem to light it up when they leave that organization.

You're not a hockey fan if you think that's a fair trade. Nylander has 7 points in his last 6 games, has had a 50%+ corsi rating, and a good xG% too. Dudes played amazing, took him some time to come back up to speed, but since then he's played solid, defensively too. Nylander's deal in 2-3 years will be an absolute steal. Now, go worry about your Blues, looks like they're not cup contending anytime soon. Also, Pesce isn't the second coming of Bobby Orr, calm down.

Yes, I do know who Kadri is. Get rid of Kadri and now you have Lindholm and Gauthier filling big minutes at centre. If Matthew or Tavares are injured those two guys play even more minutes.
