No one is taking Jack Johnson off your hands unless you pay a very very high price. For example, CHI had to pay Teuvo Teravainen just to move 30yo Bryan Bickel who had 1 year $4M remaining on his contract. Now imagine what the price would be to move Johnson that will cost $3.25M for 4 more years that will take him to the age of 36. So you're probably looking at paying a 1st+top young player.

I agree with the Johnson comment above. Additionally, Jarry doesn’t fit in well with Arizona as they already have their top few goalies set, and he won’t want to sit in the AHL forever. Also to do the deal someone would have to come back to Pit as Arizona is at the 50 contract limit.

Funny, the Penguins dropped Hunwick for Sheary and got a 4th possible 3rd back in return. Maybe Bowman just sucks at trading?

Hunwick wasn't nearly as bad as Johnson. Sheary is a good price to pay to move him. Another example is DET giving up their 1st to move Datsyuk's contract.

really, that's news to every pittsburgh fan who watched him get benched. But hey what do I know.
PS giving up Sheary was like giving up nothing. He too was getting benched and playing on the 4th line.
You have not a clue what you are talking about.

So you would rather have Johnson than Hunwick? That shows you have no clue what you're talking about.

lmao Sheary was a solid top 9 player.

what does Johnson have to do with Hunwick. Nothing. I don't even know where you get that from.
Sheary was a solid top 9 player. tears of joy
sure, and Johnson is a solid bottom 4 LD too, you want him. I also have the Brooklyn bridge for sale if you are interested.

He'll be gone next year. Don't even worry about that. And the year after that he'll be on Seattle. Done deal.
I think they signed him hoping they could dump him to Seattle next year. But it's not a problem. They will attach him to a trade and move him out while bringing in the youth.

They can do that, but will cost them a pretty penny. Could buy him out also but it would be on the payroll for like 8 years.

It's not going to cost nearly that much. It's only a 3 million cap hit. You act like they are trying to move 6 million per year Lucic.

He will most likely go to seattle after he's traded. And they will use him to get to the cap floor. You act like it would cost McDavid to get rid of him. It won't. Just like it didn't cost much of anything to get rid of Hunwick.
A team could bury him in the minors and it's only 2 million a season till he goes to Seattle the next year.
But a team looking for a physical presence on their team will probably play him anyway.
Just because Bowman got ripped off doesn't mean everyone does.

WHAT TEAM WOULD TAKE HIM!? This is what you're not getting. No one is going to go "Sure I'll take that terrible dman that's 32 years old that will get paid $3.25M for 4 more years just because." No one wants him. No one wants to play him or has a plan to. Why in the flying hell would Seattle take him in the expansion? Whatever team he's on will have multiple better players available than him. A team would have to pay a lot to get rid of him at the expansion.

This is what I ask most PIT fans on here: would you make that trade? Imagine you're PIT with unlimited space, would you trade for Jack Johnson for garbage picks? No you wouldn't.

That's like asking why would Buffalo want Hunwick.
They took him that's how it works.
Sometimes it's an agreement between owners.
Sometimes it's a team who is rebuilding and has cap space and needs to get to the floor.
You act like it's impossible to move 3 million. You are kidding yourself. You aren't talking about a 6 million cap hit here.

All I'm saying is I guarantee Jack Johnson will not be traded with at least a 1st round pick or very prospect/s involved. You aren't moving him for anything less.

JJ will probably be moved with Pearson or Jugs and a mid round pick.
Much like Hunwick.
GMJR is a good guy in the league. Everyone knows that. He's got lots of friends, he's helped lots of people. It's why people help him out.
Teams have their GMs because they came up under JR, they have their coaches because JR let them talk to them.
It's good to have friends in this league.
