Explain why you, and all Wild fans for that matter, have so much interest in Necas.

20+ years of not having a bonafide #1 center.

He's an offensive speedy right shot potential 1C: the exact piece that this team needs.

Honestly, it's a lot to give, but I'd seriously consider it. I like Faulk a lot. We definitely should have floated Granlund's name when we dealt Nino to see if we could get Necas...

Edit: scratch that, I'd do this trade. We have a massive need for a 1C and this is a way we'd get one. We could get a decent return for Staal and Williams, nothing crazy, but some picks and prospects would go a long way to fill the prospect pool.

For all the reasons you stated, that is why the canes won't trade him. Why would the canes give up the potential to have Aho and Necas as their 1-2 Cs? Right now the canes have Wallmark as their 2C, and while it's working right now, i think he's better suited as a bottom 6 C. I think the canes like their current roster, so they aren't desperate enough to trade away Necas for short term help. The value is there but the canes don't do this. Nice try though.

I agree with most of that. I think Necas is untouchable, but adding Granlund would be huge for your offense (which your GM has said he wanted to upgrade going all the way back to the Nylander drama). LeBrun also said your team might buy, so I'm not quite sure they do like their current roster.

What I was trying to say is that the canes like their current roster well enough that they don't need to trade necas to improve it. The canes are certainly pushing for the playoffs but they are nowhere near being a cup contender, so they won't trade necas just to add pieces in the short term. While the canes are firing on all cylinders right now, I honestly don't think it's too sustainable, and they will need a player like necas in the future if they want to be legit.
