I know why you did the CGY trade, but I honestly don't want to trade Keith at all. This site has gone nuts over some random guy's Duncan Keith comment. Keith's playing amazing hockey right now and we're about to have somewhere between 1-5 rookie Dmen spend time with the Hawks over the next few years. He may not be a Norris finalist anymore, but he's 110% a top pair Dman and $5.5M for that is a bargain. I would do the CAR trade though. The Hawks don't need the extra cap space, but it would be nice to have more. With that said if I were a CAR fan, I'd say no. Fleury is still young and can help, CAR isn't contending for a cup this year. It just wouldn't be worth it IMO.

I am, and have been, so torn on whether or not to trade Keith. I completely agree that he is a super affordable top pair dman and would be a great mentor to the young guys coming up, exhibit A Jokiharju, but I am concerned that if the hawks don't move out a dman this Deadline/summer they won't be able to give all of their young layers the right amount of ice time. I am assuming that the Hawks are keeping Murphy and Gus, who has really started to persuade me that he should stay, and Seabrook is here for good and if they don't trade Keith they'll already have four dmen locked up for next season. Jokiharju in my book is a lock next year, Boqvist is hopefully ready, and I'd rather have room on the team for him rather than have him play meaningless minutes for Rockford. Mitchell is a question mark along with Chad Krys. That is 8 dmen without even including guys like Forsling, Koekkoek, Dahlstrom, and Hillman. Finally, Bowman might look to make a few moves in free agency to sure up the top 4. So if Keith is gone we get 5.5 to spend on another forward and another young guy will be able to play more meaningful minutes in the NHL. As far as Anisimov, CAR needs to shed some dmen and need more scoring, I figured that would be a good deal for both teams now and in the future.
