Created by: Boush
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 12, 2019
Published: Feb. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Salary cap based on Bettman's projections as of late 2018. Team based on my Team Fun AGM post. Vrana gets the standard Caps 24 year old RFA contract.

Steve-O signed just because I love that dude and he'd be fine for a 7th D while the other prospects get some quality AHL minutes.

Because Boyd can't play 3C and Dowd is a better 4C than Boyd. I don't know where some of y'all are getting the idea that Boyd is anything better than a fringe 4C. https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SkaterComparisonToolv2/Dashboard1

he filled in perfectly fine at 3c during the playoffs when backstrom was injuries... I assume thats were "y'all are getting the idea that Boyd is anything better than a fringe 4C". he also had amazing Ahl numbers and looks good on the 2nd power play unit. we also don't need him to play 3c bc of eller back and kuzy but if we did need him to he would be more than able......again 18 playoffs.

seems like you don't completely understand value also if youre dumping young nhl ready talent for late useless picks.....just seems dumb.

I know that his underlying numbers aren't good, but his point totals are pretty insane for his ice time, his points/60 is 2.8 which is really good. He plays like a solid 4th line player, really good board work and is defensively reliable, but he's also played 3rd line C really well when he's been subbed in. Dowd also has 55 more minutes played and less points, he just doesn't have the offensive potential and production that Boyd has, and he's younger as well.

boyd is home grown and deserves way more of an opportunity than dowd and if the caps were shopping him 30 teams would take him for a 6th..... I also believe last season beagle had terrible underlying numbers.....

At 2.53, Boyd is tied with Nico Hischier for 86th in the NHL in points/60 minutes, minimum 20 games played.

He's third on the Caps in assists/60, with 1.85. That's 50th in the NHL. Boyd is going to be a top six forward as soon as he builds a little more endurance.

Bowey's 0.79 points/60 this year are fifth of eight Caps defensemen over 20 games, and just barely ahead of Orlov. Djoos just passed him yesterday. Siegenthaler is tied for last with Orpik. Bowey's modest production is currently tied with Nicklas Kronwall at 129th among defensemen. If there are 124 top 4 defensemen, Bowey's a pretty good #5, which is where he should be, in his second year.

What's it going to cost to re-sign Barrie, rather than just talking to him as a UFA and keeping LuJo?

Better than Olesky. Not better than Bowey.

Yeah, I don't think any of you read anything I said in the description. This is based on another AGM team I made. The trades you're all going on about are only partial views. They can't be recreated exactly in a 19-20 season because of free agent statuses. This team is the end result of trades made in an 18-19 season. Not trades made in 19-20.

Bowey for Fehr and the pick.
Boyd with DSP and Connolly for Ferland and the pick. Boyd and DSP were sent off primarily for cap space. I frankly just disagree that Boyd is better than Dowd, which is why he was sent over in the trade. Boyd would be a no-brainer starter in Carolina, so I'm not doing him dirty. He's not anywhere near on par with a 1st overall pick, so we can stop with that madness now.
