People might want to look if the player being "moved" has a NTC...

Not really, he has a great contract for the next five years and with recent trades it’s not ridiculous

Tampa takes that and runs with it. Stop helping them out so much, they're already good enough.

Players waive those all the time. They're out in place so he can't be moved to a team that he doesn't wanna be on. All Tampa has to say is "we're not playing you, so take a trade" and most players will. You also think he wouldn't wanna play with Eichel, Dahlin, Middlestadt and that core there? Buffalo might be a good choice for him to waive for actually

I would take a shot at offer-sheeting Brayden Point before trading for Johnson. Take a better player from Tampa instead of freeing up some space for them to sign Point themselves.

That's a slipper slope approach, because if he's producing but get's sent to the minors due to him not waiving then it becomes a grievance with the NHLPA. If Tampa didn't want cap-hell then Stevey Y shouldn't have thrown in movement protection on his contract
