Better, but still nope. Upgrade the pick to a 2nd and change Hudon to Evans and that would be worth considering.

I think it has to be a 2nd at least.

If Muzzin is worth a 1st and two prospects. Martinez is worth a 2nd and one prospect. In this case Reilly and Hudon are not prospects anymore so they would have to be two players that the Kings really wanted and no other offer came up better.

His age is a problem for Montreal. We should ideally be acquiring a 20-25 YO defensemen to grow with our core, but he is a good stopgap defensemen that brings leadership. As long as we aren't giving any good prospects or good picks for him, I say we do it.

Kings would want a quality young prospect that is nearly NHL ready. They don't want to spend 4-5 years rebuilding, which is how long it would take for those 2nds to turn into NHL players. 2nd and Evans would get it done.

You're not going to get a quality player like Martinez with 2+ years on a team-friendly contract without giving up "any good prospects or good picks."

So you telling me trade that LA did with leafs are ready players? No.

Muzzin played 1st D pair.

Martinez plays 2nd D pair.

2 LA needs caps space if they wanna add something in offseason.

two 2nd round picks are not enough where you from?

Grundstrom is nearly NHL ready. He's tearing it up in the AHL right now and will likely be on the roster next season or the season after. Durzi is an overage junior player right now, and will spend a season or two in the AHL and will be on the NHL roster by the time Seattle is a NHL team. a 2019 2nd round pick won't be NHL ready until 2023 or 2024.

Muzzin did not play 1st D pair. He has been Martinez's defensive partner for the past 3-4 seasons. I'm not suggesting that Martinez is worth what Muzzin is, which is why I'm not suggesting that a team give up a 1st round pick and two quality prospects for him.

Kings are doing just fine on cap space. They're going to be making several other moves in the offseason as well, likely shipping out Kovalchuk, Quick, and Carter, and possibly Toffoli. They'll have more than enough room to add something in the off-season if they so choose.

I didn't say that two 2nd round picks wasn't enough. That's probably what they're looking for as far as value goes. However, they're going to want their acquisitions to make a impact sooner than 2023. Substitute Evans for the second 2nd would be more than fair.
