From the Wild's perspective, no thanks, If Fast was 5 years younger, maybe...but the Wild are in no place to pay for a rental, and need to get younger...not older.

Tokarski has a .904 save percentage in the AHL, he doesn’t do much for the leafs, especially considering they have Hutch already down there. I do like the idea of Mcquid on the Leafs though, but not for a third.

Pass from Chicago. It's pretty clear that Vlady benefitted from playing with a VERY deep team and superstar line mates. Kane and Toews are clearly quality, but you don't need a $2M player in order to make that line quality. I'd prefer to keep our prospects and picks.

No way the Rangers get Spooner back, they did not want him because he didnt fit into the new system which is why they got rid of him in the first place.

Thank you for your insight on the Wild. I thought the trade works because Fast is not a rentle and is signed for next year as well at a very good $$$ cap hit. Also seems like the kind of player the Wild love. And though it's no certainty, I could easily see at least an equal amount returned in trade if at any point Fast is not a good fit in MIN.

Thank you for your insight on the Leafs. Tokarski is just depth guy you could stash in the AHL without another team signing off waivers yet another one of your depth goalie's.

NYR traded a 4th & 7th round pick for McQuaid, so NYR is hoping to get a 3rd and a C...Prospect. Like what BOS traded in exchange for Nick Holen at last years TDL in what seems to be a TDL norm of exchange for a depth D-man.

Though I'd argue McQuaid is much better than a depth D and certainly better than Mick Holden.

Thank you for commenting on the trade proposal. There's been some chatter about CHI needing two way forwards and Namestnikov is just that. A great defensive player that could also move up to the top line.

At $2 million per cap hit for this year and next year, he's a bargain and has good if not better retrade value. In addition Namestnikov is probably best suited to play a shut down center, but can also be a scoring winger & a defensive checking winger.

I must admit he wouldn't be the first player I'd suggest NYR trading for... But he's needed to offset the difference in $$$ salary cap. As well Benning helps offset the $$$ difference, but I believe he could be a very useful depth right handed D-man.

Also if Spooner keeps tearing up the AHL like he's done in the short term, he might get a chance to reprove himself with the big club when roster personnel and roles on the team change.
