NO NO NEVER. Do not trade for Hayes, it will take a massive overpayment and this is even more grotesque than that. This is disgusting for the Jets actually, barely even improves their current chances and kills their future and cap saving options (all of Vesalainen, Appleton and potentially their draft pick will help keep their window open with good play from guys on elc's). Don't believe Chicago retains on Keith like that so can't see that one especially for that low of a price, but if they would, Jets should do it.

HUGE over payment on Hayes. I think Hayes will be a good fit in Winnipeg honestly, but NYR will not fetch that type of return.

H*ll no to both. In this scenario we aren't picking till the 4th round, giving up our two best forward prospects (I'm counting Appleton), and paying a dman whose production is poised to fall off a cliff for the next five years.

So take off Appleton or vaselainen and it’s closer to correct or what’s the consensus, I maybe biased I was at rangers game last night and Hayes had a quiet night, but impressed me with size speed and strength, and I believe could be a nice fit, a poor mans oreilly sorta fit

Fair enough, I was at game last night, I liked the 3 of 4 lines and all the d pairings, and helly played well. I just feel little, and Lowry never going to be right Center for laine and I like copp as a player, but I’m not sure if he will get there either. I would like to see a line with copp laine and pearrault, tanev or Lemieux on the other wing and see if that could gain some chemistry, looking for a upgraded copp with a high energy crasher on one wing and laine on the other,

I can agree with that. And the stats back that up as well.

Lines that Little play on since 2016 (when Laine arrived) average 2.58G/60. Adding Laine to his line actually only increases the G/60 by 0.03 to 2.61. Whereas Scheifele's line which averages 2.8G/60 goes to 4.1G/60 with Laine on the ice. Scheifele also carries Laine to 49CF% which means he's essentially playing a back-and-forth game as opposed to getting hemmed in his zone, as opposed to Little who puts a 46%. Interestingly enough withouth Laine Scheifele's shot share percentage raises by two but Little's raises by 8.

I completely agree that Little+Laine doesn't work, but I don't think we need a rental to fix that. It could be as simple as just bumping Laine up to play with either Scheifele or both Wheeler and Scheifele.

On a less statistical note, both Connor, and Ehlers have had pretty bad cold streaks this season and both were fixed when they were moved to the top line.

Interesting I would like to see Lemieux with scheifele and wheeler, I would like to see someone else fight scheifeles battles other than wheeler, scheifele definitely plays with a target on him, and Connor down a line would spread the offense pretty good

I think the big thing is usage. I have no problem with Scheifele fighting his own battles, with Byfuglien and Chiarot taking care of the Jamie Benns of the world. Scheifele is a tank when he's rested. Scheifele averaging 22min/game is another story.

Personally I would like to see us just stand pat at the deadline this year for reasons that would take a fairly long post to explain.

What I would prefer is
Ehlers-Scheifele-Laine 17min/game
Connor-Little-Wheeler 17min/game
Perreault-Lowry-Tanev 14min/game
Lemieux-Copp-Apples 12min/game

With Wheeler and Ehlers being switchable.

You're right in say Lemieux has earned more time (as has Copp and Apples), but I would rather see Scheifele take a step back as a result rather than more of the same. Also playing Laine a shade 10min/game is an absolute problem. The guy is struggling, but that is just unsustainable for guys like Scheifele and Wheeler to have to carry us like that.

Ya that fixes laine little roslovic, I like your plans I wouldn’t mind seeing roslovic getting some low min time up the middle, I think he could possibly develop into a scheifele 2.0, but I may be reaching. I would be all right with standing pat as long as they don’t keep running out laine little roslovic

My bad, I did forget about Roslovic. You could throw him in for any of Tanev, Apples, Copp or Lemieux, and have the 5 of them rotating. As this point in time, I would guess something more in between Little and Giroux. (If you go look at Roslovic's AHL stats and Giroux's AHL stats.)

A faster giroux, that is a better comparison, I agree

For some reason I absolutely love this idea. I think people would end up not messing with those guys with Lemieux out there. Even though he’s small, he can pack a punch. Lemieux has also shown that he can bring some offence with his grit so that could be a really interesting fit

I disagree with you about Keith here. If you were paying him 5 mil, then yes that’s going to be a tough cap to swallow. But at 3 mil let’s not kid ourselves, where are the jets going to find defensemen that can play in the top 4 for cheaper than that? Only through development I guess. Just look at what they pay Kulikov. Keith will continue to slow down but he’s still going to be a decent dman

As a pure rental, I guess the jets should be willing to give up a 1st but I don’t think much more, especially in this market. They shouldn’t touch any prospects at the deadline unless it really bolsters the team. I’m talking like Panarin duchene stone type guys. I really think though they should just stand pat, maybe add a little depth

Um... On the Blackhawks? The Blackhawks have an LHD capable of playing in the top 4 for the next two years at 1.2M. Outside of that, Niku is more than capable based on the way he's played this year in the NHL and in the AHL.

And to top it off the 'Buff effect': You can play pretty much anyone with Dustin Byfuglien and they won't look out of place in the top 4.
