Elliotte Friedman Panarin Offer

Created by: Hedman77

Description
https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/rumor-a-new-darkhorse-candidate-emerges-in-panarin-trade-talks

"I’m wondering if Los Angeles makes a play for Panarin. The Kings aren’t interested in a lengthy rebuild, and southern California is believed to be high on the winger’s list of priorities. They could wait until June, but the benefit of getting him now is the eighth year. Los Angeles has two first-rounders (their own and Toronto’s from the Jake Muzzin trade), and have asked a high price for Tyler Toffoli — but that seems an enticing package. Columbus was in on Ilya Kovalchuk, but he has control over where he goes and the Blue Jackets might not want him for two more seasons. Such a move would certainly breathe new life into L.A." - Elliotte Friedman

Kings pass. Their 2019 1st could potentially become Jack Hughes or Kappo Kakko.

Nope. Blake has been very stingy with his draft picks. Their 1st round pick is likely to be in the top 5, if not the top 2. They have a legitimate chance to draft Hughes or Kakko with that pick, they're not going to trade it for Panarin, when he could be had just as easily on July 1.

I like Panarin, but with an expiring contract, he's not worth two 1st round picks and a quality top six forward.

This is interesting but I think the Kings have zero interest in trading both there's and the leafs 1st round picks. I think the only way Panarin lands in LA is if he makes it to FA and signs in LA.

Don't think the Kings like the deal. Don't think Panarin likes the deal either. If he signs with the Kings he would prefer that Kings haven't traded pieces and are a strong team. I wonder about the Kings cap. A 4m raise to Doughty and if Panarin gets 10m next year.

Elliotte Friedman is a joke, Why would LA be the least interested bit in Panarin? The Kings aren't making the playoffs. If he wants LA they can sign him for free come July 1st.

The best I would do for rental Panarin (just to give him the 8 year option) is a 2nd and Toffoli, with the 2nd turning into Toronto's 1st if Panarin re-signs. Otherwise, I'd wait until summer.

Why do hockey insiders come up with the most horrible and delusional offers. I would think if anything they trade toffoli for futures and just sign panarin. If they end up with Hughes and some other bright futures in the draft and move out some of the dead weight I think Panarin May see LA as a good landing spot.

I don't think LA should do that. I know it's just wishful thinking at this point, but both 1st rounders (even the Toronto pick) get fetch them some nice pieces to get younger. With their own pick, as has been said by many others in this thread, they could get one of Hughes or Kakko, with the Toronto pick, depending on where it lands, they could get themselves someone like a Brett Leason.

With the position they are in, Hughes/Kakko and Leason would be great to add to an already decent farm system with Kupari, Clague, Durzi, Grundstrom

That wasn’t the offer. People just can’t read. He said the kings now have 2 firsts and they have Toffoli out there at a high price. Never said Toffoli and the 2 firsts were an offer. Just that he wouldn’t be surprised if the kings made a play for him to accelerate their rebuild.

It all depends on how the real world works. I've always been suspicious about the Pacioretty sequence of events. I can actually see Blake sending Toronto's first, L.A.'s second in 2020 (elevated if Panarin re-signs) and Toffoli and then Panarin magically re-ups the day after the trade, but that's because I'm a cynical sort.

“Seems”. Where did he say they offered that for Panarin? He went on to mention CBJs interest in Kolvachuk in offseason so shouldn’t the offer be Toffoli, Kovalchuk and 2 firsts for Panarin?

He never said that they DID offer it. That’s why it’s called a proposal.
As for Kovalchuk.. “he has control over where he goes and the Blue Jackets might not want him for two more seasons.”

seriously I’m the one who can’t read?

You. Friedman mentions assets and you come to capfriendly to say Friedman heard the kings “proposed” toffoli and 2 firsts for Panarin.
