I feel like our entire team has stepped up their games and are playing quickly except him...He is the one player that I think we could trade and the culture wouldnt shift too much

He is the one player that just doesn't fit on the team, I wouldn't be mad if they let him go to another team. I would like to see it happen.

I'd take a 4th if we didn't have to retain salary. I think some team would want him though. Maybe Carolina?

why would he waive his NTC when the team is finally clicking? I'd rather move other parts in a small tweak and move him down to the third line and buy out in the offseason.

He probably has a small list of teams he would accept a trade to, but Montreal isn't one of them assuredly

Like an overloaded dump truck with flat, square tires, pulling the Sears Tower in molasses.

I agree, but the original poster is dreaming if he thinks any team will offer a 2nd for him. Depending on the team, the VERY best I can see Steener bringing is a very low third rounder that is almost a fourth rounder.

I'd prefer they not even use him on the third or fourth line. He likely refuses to waive his NTC as stated above, so if I'm Berube, I tell him, "Fine, you can stay, but you will be a healthy scratch until you wave or retire." Not the most fiscally wise maneuver, but there are ways to force a man's hand.
