We need to use this $12 million on one superstar, one good player and one 4th liner. That is better than having three mediocre players at $12 million. Instead of $4, $3, and $3m spend $7, $2, and $1m. I'd rather have a star and play Blueger and/or Wilson (small minutes anyway).

Interesting thought, but which superstar do you propose signing @$7 mil?

We don't need a top of cap room. We need to let the youth play. Angelo is sitting down there in WBS like, "I think I should be doing something right now"
Next year it will be Hallander.

To be honest there isn't a lot out there you can find to sign and bring in that is a super star. Maybe Panarin or Stone. That's it. But I don't see Loaf coming to Pittsburgh.
But if you bring in Stone. The player you have to move is Hörnqvist,.

I was kind've thinking for a rental to try to win this year. Then you have a clean(er) slate next offseason.

There are players like Stone, Duchene, Staal...plenty around $6 $7m.

Agreed. We won two cups with cheap rookies like Sheary and Guentzel and Rust contributing and freeing up money for Kessel. I am not sure if the crop in WBS is as good as those 3.

He’s having a down year but has been a solid player in his career. I think buffalo could take a gamble on him

I misread what you meant...for Buffalo to get him I think PIT would take picks (2nd-3rd Round)?

I do question, would Pittsburgh have any interest in one of our dmen/bottom 6 guys to round out and add depth for the playoffs? I’m thinking like a Beaulieu (50% Ret,) Girgensons, Larsson, etc

Ah, I understand now. I thought you meant signing someone as a UFA (Stone 7 x $9-9.5 and Duchene 7 x $8-9).
