Description
Since we are most likely to trade a defenseman prior to the deadline to make room for Fox, what would your team offer for Faulk, Hamilton, Fleury, and Bean? I am curious.

yeah I was going to say, that's not gonna work for Ottawa. They need either one of the young guys or Hamilton.
They can't bring people in so they need control or term.

as a TML fan i'd like Pesce. 6 years signed is massive and at $4m too.

however Pesce is not worth Nylander, and may still be slightly under Kapenen.

so to get either i'd think it would need to look like:
Pesce + Saarela + McKeown for Nylander
or
Pesce + N. Roy + McKeown for Kapanen + rights to Dakota Joshua & E. Rasenen

I'm partially with you here, but hear me out. Schwartz is a legit 2nd line winger who has three 20+ goal season and one at 19. His hockey acumen is even better than his stats, and the Canes get him for two more years at $5+ million. However, he is a small guy with above average speed who plays like a big guy with above average speed, which is why he tends to get hurt. Admittedly, he has changed his game some this year from "balls-to-the-wall" to playing a little smarter (good for him), which has helped him stay on the ice. He is a difficult piece to trade, but I am also high on Foegele (not as a 2nd line replacement though) and Bean meets a need the Blues will have when Pietrangelo is traded. Petro's cap space is filled with the cheaper Bean, and Schwartz's cap space is alleviated with Foegele's cheaper salary. This gives the blues cap space to extend Schenn (who is a match made in heaven on our first line) and also gives us cap to go after Stone. We also need some picks to start replenishing our LHD holes that are mounting. Do I sway you a little here?

Pesce + Foegele and a pick for Schwartz. Pesce is a RHD, Pietrangelo is a RHD and Bean is a LHD. Pesce can be a cheap long term replacement for Pietrangelo

My bad. I thought Bean was a RHD. I'm with you about Pesce being a long-term replacement for Petro. I'm just not sure after the down season Schwartz has had he can draw that.

Having looked extensively at your team for a while now, I think Stone and Toffoli -- via different routes -- ought to be on your horizon. But the Kings probably aren't interested in defensemen (except maybe Pesce). If I could wave a magic wand for the Hurricanes, it would be to sign Stone for anything less than $10M per year in the summer.

One random thought: Winnipeg might want to take out insurance against losing Myers and getting a trade demand from Trouba, so maybe they might send you their first and some more (Appleton? Roslovic?) for Pesce at the trade deadline.
