WPG needs to free up cap space. Adding RNH and RFA Nurse's $5-6m contract doesn't do much when they can use that money to sign Trouba and Connor.

Trouba > Nurse
Connor > RNH

Trouba's next contract starts with a 7. Connor's next contract starts with a 6.

If something is to be done with the Jets, it is more likely the 2019 1st + Puljujarvi + inexpensive D (Benning/Jones) for Ehlers.

My thought was that you would be spending less on RNH + Nurse than you would resigning Connor and Trouba. I personally think Nurse is better than Trouba but that's my opinion. I do realize EDM is getting a bit better deal that's why I included the 2nd.

Don't get me wrong, if the Oilers pulled that off and won their first trade in.... years, I would be ecstatic. I just don't think they can; and we have some rather dire salary cap issue of our own.

What part of Trouba not wanting to play in Canada don't you understand? No way is Trouba leaving Winnipeg for Edmonton. Reportedly he wants to play on the east coast of the US or in the east conference from what Dreger had mentioned earlier.

and here i would think the Oilers are getting hosed. Nurse is better then Trouba all day every day, and RNH is the best player involved in the trade hands down.
