Playoff Push

Created by: Kongol
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2019
Published: Feb. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Keeping things simple and cost effective.
Polak is used to the Leafs, everyone liked him there (especially Babs) and Dallas is loaded with RHD. Gardiner adds a faster game with more offensive upside. For the leafs (Who have enough puck carrying D) they get a solid stay at home guy who can hit and make good defensive plays. Polak also.adds.some grit back there.

Smith-Pelley adds some much needed grit to the forward group, and has proven to up his game in the playoffs. Caps get a skilled and consistent bottom 6 forward to further add to their fire power.

The Leafs also.obtain Picks for the players that would otherwise yield zero return.

Personally I don’t hate these trades. I like the Washington trades proposed by two different caps fans on here better than yours. Brown for Bowey.

To be honest, the last few games Zaitsev has really showed more of his old self when paired with someone that's not Gardiner. He's giver then chance to do more with the puck and you can see his comfort and confidence level grow. I hate to trade him, but short of Kadri or Nylander who won't be moved, he's the only one left to make some salary room.

I've never noticed Bowey, but if he's a physical Defenseman and the Caps can let him go for a good price, then yes he would be a good fit.

Thank god you are not the Leafs GM. In what world is Polak an upgrade on Gardiner and DSP an upgrade on Brown. You are trolling right?

Unlike Gardiner, if Polak makes a hit it's not by accident.
In this case, he is an improvement based on their needs. He offers more of what they are looking for. He's a stay at home Defencemen. Gardiner is more offensive minded which they have enough of. So yes, in this case it is an improvement as it would make the team better.

For much the same reason, DSP is an upgrade on Brown based on what would benefit the Leafs. He also comes in at a lower cap hit and if they so.choose (and if the can afford it) they can resign DSP in the off season to do what Brown did but with more of a grinder role and do so for less than Brown.

To summarize, no this is not a Troll post.
