Yeah Detroit's not giving Trouba $9.5 million per, He's worth maybe $2 million less then that. Trouba will get about 7 x 7.5 on the open market. Other then that nice job.

If Trouba signed for $7.5 mil x 7 years, I would have also signed UFA Ryan Dzingel for $4.5 mil x 5 years.

Wow, first decent offersheet I’ve seen on kappy. Good job. Toronto doesn’t match and takes the compensation.

Id absolutely do that if I'm Toronto, that's still probably a top 15 pick they can either use or trade. Meanwhile, Detroit gets a really good player they could use now. Montreal deal is a pretty good too. I don't love the Winnipeg deals, but if Trouba leaves, I guess anything is possible

That 1st round pick would also be unprotected, so that would be something the Wings would have to consider. If I'm the Buds I would have to let Kappy walk... Sadly.

MTL deal looks fine to me and I’m ok with the Trouba deal because I doubt he’ll make it to UFA status next offseason but 9.5 is way too much. I’d say max 7.5 aav for him. The other WPG deal for Helm though; if Det is retaining salary for 3 years near 2mill then they need more than a 3rd rd compensation. I’d also pass on the Kap offer sheet, I don’t think he’s worth a first from Det, but that’s just me

I dont think 2020 pick is going anywhere. Especially not for kapanen, yeah hes a great player, but with lafrenier, and 2 to possibly 5 other HUGE names in the 2020 draft i dont think its one that should be played with, at least not until we see where were at, at next years TDL. If were in a playoff spot, then yeah we can trade it for a playoff push, but anything short of that will imo will be too valuable to give up. If you think Ottawa probably giving up Hughes to Colorado is bad, imagine if we give up a little Crosby in Lafrenier to Toronto for Kapanen.
