Is sekera any good anymore

Created by: TommyBPickles

Description
Edmonton needs cap help and montreal's LD is not good, would sekera be an upgrade? I legit have no idea but I assume he would be better than Reilly and kulak. He is signed for 2 more years so would be a good stop gap until romanov comes to NA. Given the state of edm you have to think they ask him to waive his modified NTC next year so maybe he would waive his NMC this year. Gagner is more cap help, unless they traded for him cause they really wanted him for some reason. Alzner goes the other way with money retained so that Edmonton overall is saving a bunch on the cap the next 2 years and Montreal doesn't take on more than they can handle cap wise. If Edmonton refused alzner going the over way he would have to be moved in a separate deal or take out gagner and offer a lower pick or something. I am assuming that sekera is still a top 4 D on teams like Montreal who just dont have a better option right now.

No, we keep that 2rd pick, pretty sure MB will sign the NCAA Defenseman Jimmy Schuldt, he will be the ideal partner for Petry. So I expect Mete-Weber Schuldt-Petry Kulak-Juulsen/Brook/Fleury

IMO its Alzner straight up for Sekera. EDM gets cap relief, MTL gets less term. Both guys are still NHL'ers but provide different roles. Take it or leave it.

So you are both confident that Montreal can sign. This guy over the other 30 teams that will be interested and that he'll be immediately able to step into an NHL second pairing?

Go check out how Mike Reilly first entered the league.
Let alone all the NCAA free agents who me we make the NHL. There are very very very few undrafted NCAA prospects who played in the NCAA all the way until 23 and went on to have impact NHL careers as skaters (goalies are their own beast). To be honest I can't think of one.

Comments like this are hilarious. Last year the Oilers were struggling around Xmas and had some injuries on defence so instead of letting Sekera properly recover from his knee injury they brought him started playing him 2-3 months before he was ready imo. He was wearing a knee brace that reduced his mobility so much he couldn't compete in the NHL. All you need to do is look at his splits from last year and see he was returning into NHL form by the end of the season.

DEC, JAN, FEB. 21 Games 2 points and -14
MAR 15 games 6 points and -1
Worlds 7 games 3 points and -3

What does this mean? Well, Sekera still has potential and we will find out starting next week if he can handle NHL pace after his conditioning stint (in which all reports are saying he has looks fairly good)

Alright lets talk about Jimmy Schuldt. Marc Bergevin's after him for a couple years. Jimmy wants to win the Frozen 4 with St. Cloud State University before to come in the NHL. He already came for the Montreal Development camp in the past. Charlie Lindgren was is goaltender before Lindgren sign in the free agency with Montreal. They are bodies. Mtl draft in 2017 with there 1st round pick Ryan Poehling, playing with St. Cloud University. Guess what, Poehling didn't sign is ELC yet because he wants to win the tournement too. But this is the last year St. Cloud have a good team, because after this year, their captain Jimmy Schuldt have to leave and other keyplayer. So Poehling will sign with MTL after the NCAA season, and MTL will sign Jimmy Schuldt, who already knows MTL and got 2 friends in Lindgren & Poehling.

Last season Sekera tore his ACL and needed surgery ending his season. In the offseason while rehabbing his knee he suffered a ruptured achilles tendon. They say 6-8 months before you can resume normal activity and He's already playing in the AHL and looks like he will play in Edmonton before the season is over. I don't know if he is going to be the same player he was before but with what he has already accomplished I wouldn't bet against him.

Montreal MAY sign him. Not will. You can't even say they will sign Poehling (unless you are him by your name). You present good arguments but no one knows.

In the Jimmy Vesey sweepstakes a few years back they figured it would be Boston (his home), or Toronto (drafted his brother and hired his dad as a scout). He went to neither and chose the bright lights of Manhattan.

So will you now admit you were overconfident when you said Montreal WILL sign Schuldt?
