Outside of Puljujarvi, I don't see how any of that benefits you guys in the future.

Detroit is the team that has interest in Honka so they'd want him I'm sure. Doesn't make sense to pay a 1st for Nyquist either I'd rather give up a conditional pick or a prospect

Also I can't see Edmonton doing the Puljujarvi deal. Nichushkin is 23, i assume they'll want someone younger and with a more promising upside or someone that can help the team now

Edmonton will hang up and block the number if they bet a trade offer like that for Puljujarvi

It’s Edmonton I wouldn’t be surprised if they took it

Swap the deals around? 2nd and Honka for Nyquist and Ritchie + 1st for Zucc?

I wouldn't do any of that. Like I get Dallas is better than their record, but this has been a really strange year in the West. The only sure things in the NHL this year are all in the East.

Maybe Puljujarvi, but there's a higher risk of overpaying a hyped first rounder who's struggling that Nichushkin.

This would insure them a playoff spot. This would drastically raise their only bad stat which is goal scoring

I get that, but regardless Dallas has been inconsistent this year in terms of xGF% average over time. Dallas has the talent and resources to be competitive, but it's a bad gamble that they can make something out of this year. (It's also a bad gamble for pretty much every team in the West.) There are just way too many wildcards (fluctuating teams, not actual wildcard teams). Take your 3 picks and your decent defensive prospect and just make these trades when you know you're a surer thing next year.
