Mantha won't be traded he's not on the market. So it will take far more than he is worth to pry him free.

Now if he was I still wouldn't make the trade and here is why:

Cayden Primeau is in his second year of college and 2 more and he can choose where he goes.

Cayden's father Keith 3rd overall in 1990. Now he wasn't a bust but never lived up to the hype. That didn't stop the fans and media from roasting and booing him every chance they got till he was traded. So if I was Keith no way in hell I'd let my son go to Detroit.

Juulsen is in your top 5 prospects and has a lot of potential and Holland has said he wants a D prospects ( I have no idea why). I've heard recently that Detroit plans to keep Jenesn and Kronwall could hit 1000 games next year if he wants to that means Detroit will be in the same messed up situation they are in now, with 2 young defensemen in the minors that are better than at least half of D now.

Yeah. If DET was to put Mantha up on the market, there would be many better offers than that. A college maybe (no guarantee he signed in DET, even if a sign and trade were possibility, still quite far away as a prospect), a D prospect that hasn't quite lived up to the hype, and 2 late 2nd round picks doesn't move the needle much.

Any deal Montreal would want for Mantha would start with Josh Brook and another higher end prospect (Evans, Vejdemo, Teasdale) and picks.
