retain lucic the full 50% and I think florida does that. Vegas trade makes sense, but I think benning would fetch a decent price, especially to a team like toronto. Also petro is worth more than a cap dump imo

It was mainly because Oilers have currently 8D on their roster so i figured one of them goes for a cap dump to compensate for the retained

No they don’t, they do not need or want Lucic.....useless for them
That Vegas trade would be great for Edmonton, I know they can't afford to lose RNH but Brannstrom is gonna be so awesome.
Was thinking the same losing top 6 forward hurts too much to do currently but what if Vegas replace Lindberg with Eakin or Haula then Oilers add Bear/Lagesson and a 3rd then move trade into the offseason
If Florida deals either Huberdeau or Hoffman, It's because they want to shed quite a bit to be able to afford both Bob and Panarin. Adding a $5 million Milan Lucic would be a no go.

Well if the Oilers were getting Hoffman in another trade then maybe they could part with RNH and yeah as you mentioned getting say Haula or Eakins would somewhat soften the blow of losing RNH but really if they were to get Brannstrom I have zero doubt that in a season or two he makes either Nurse or Klefbom expendable and you're getting a top 6 forward back(at least)for one of those two.
WTF is this Benning is bad garbage going around? A 5th round pick with retained salary, c’mon. It’s not his fault Chiarelli gave him an extra $700,000, paired him with terrible defenseman, and had to play in the top 4 at times with forwards that wouldn’t/won’t back check. None of the analytics support him being a bad player, and he’s definitely physical above his weight class. Benning’s good, not part of the problem
Oilers have too much LHD. Far as I’m concerned Klefbom is the only one off limits.

The only problem with Benning usually is his decisions to pinch, he gets caught quite a bit. He would probably fit in really nicely with the Canes heavy pinch strategy where they always have support on pinching

Honestly i was not sure of his Value, i just checked the Depth chart and saw he was consistently in the bottom pair

A group of Oilers fans like to make a player or two whipping boys every bad season and have focused in on Benning this season. None of these people realize when they’re all over social media ****ing about a player getting likes the media notices and piles on. Creating a toxic environment for the player. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eberle actually asked for a trade out of Edmonton because of It, he’s a perennial 60 point player that got turned into a cap dump lol

I’ve watched every game and have not seen this, not anymore then any of the other defenseman anyway. But it goes back to what I said about him being paired with a bad LD and forwards that are terrible defensively
