trade Drouin for positional needs and stability

Created by: BrandonMcD11
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2019
Published: Feb. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
love the guy to death but the turnovers, the inconsistency, the bad defence, the laziness and the lack of overall effort are killing this team.

The game tonight is just another showing that this team is not ready for a playoff run and needs to continue with the retool.

Getting Drouin looked good at first but honestly I would much rather Sergachev on this team. Yes in know how many points Dro has but at the end of the day if you don't want to put in the effort every game, then you can't be a part of this team.

Brandon, you're a good analyst but a bad salesman. With your synopsis no team is going to trade for Drouin. And the reality is 5.5m can be spent better as you indicate.

really? I thought that was an overpayment honestly. Patrick hasn't been anything special since being drafted 2nd overall...

a team would love to have Drouin. He doesn't belong in MTL. He will thrive elsewhere with better players. I'm sure he should do much better with Giroux than Danault..

The numbers are not there because he play with Simmonds and Laughton at 5v5 but he create chances every game . Also Sanheim is a very good young defenseman , he play big minutes against the top line of each team and he still have succes.

The offer has to be a high overpayment for us to accept

Drouin isnt the problem SMH

our D is a friggin joke
check out most of Drouin's TBL goals and you'll notice a pattern .
Drouin needs D to succeed . you could give him Mckinnon and Ehlers who both had great success with him in different years in Halifax and he'd still not score if Mike Reilly and Petry were his D .

give him a mobile LD like Henri Jokiharju who is a natural Right shot but like Radulov loves to carry the puck all over the ice ending up eventually on the right side just intime to set up a 1 timer to whomever is just above the left side faceoff circle .

just give the man 1 legit top 4 LD to play with Weber and watch him go.

Philly won’t do this. Juulsen lost all value as his career is in jeopardy apparently.

this is the most gossip drenched statement i have ever heard .
only a Day of our Lives Watching type would even think thats true .

Gallagher required Surgery and you cowards said '' no value ''
Weber required Surgery and you jokesters said '' no value ''
Ikonen required Surgery , Poehling required surgery and you ignorant fans said '' no value''

look around , you've never been right on this stuff
stop posting about i t

Sanheim was passed in the Development System just as often as he's been pushed out of a top 4 situation in PHI

easiest way to get him is to trade a guy like Shaw or Byron for a late 1st to a team like WSH who could use RW depth and an upgrade on DSP .
Shaw has 3 points in 4 games since his return and 16 in 17 games before his injury so his offensive output has been effected nor has his grit style .
Byron would get you a first and more from any contender looking to add a 20 goal scorer with speed for 1.1m this year and 3.4m for 4 years after.
Take CGY for example , with Neal out and Byron's cheap cap it may be worth it to explore the option as he fits their exact needs right now for a cup run making them more liable to pay a 1st ++

take what you get from flipping one of those guys and give PHI a 1st for Sanheim straight up as he's about to go RFA marking the end of his Waiver Exempt Status at just 22 years old . This is the time he's expected to be ready for the NHL or stuck in the AHL like Morin otherwise teams might claim them for nothing like Scherbak . once you piss away those waiver exempt days it brings down the value which is why no one even looked at Morin again after his were up except PHI who had a lot invested in the first rounder who failed to develop in the Flyers organization as part of the Phantoms ,

maybe sanheim gets a 1st and a 3rd but that would be it as he hasnt done enough to have a large enough value to demand prospects or roster players , just one gamble for another in picks .
