Realistic-ish CBJ Deadline

Created by: jquinn18
Team: 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2019
Published: Feb. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Who knows what the CBJ will do, but this makes more sense (I think) than the other team I made. The key here for me is that GM JK doesn't totally punt on this year and also re-stocks a currently sparse cupboard of draft picks. I think the CBJ can still make playoffs with this post-deadline team. please feel free to tee-off on it!
Trades
1.
CBJ
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2019 5th round pick (BOS)
  4. 2020 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
I think Jackets could land a high-upside player like DeBrusk if no 1st rounder is included. Also i think the re-addition of a familiar player such as Riley Nash to BOS at a lower cap hit could make t more palatable. Who tf knows. Maybe a conditional 1st if Panarin resigns in BOS
BOS
  1. Nash, Riley ($1,000,000 retained)
  2. Panarin, Artemi
2.
CBJ
  1. Coyle, Charlie
  2. 2019 6th round pick (VGK)
MIN
  1. Abramov, Vitaly
  2. Milano, Sonny
  3. 2019 4th round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Milano had 14 goals last year, will never play significant minutes for Torts. Abramov is a risky prospect but could have huge upside. If CBJ kicked tires on Anisimov I'm sure they will on Coyle too, plus he makes more sense at a $ and term standpoint.
3.
CBJ
  1. Varlamov, Semyon
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Colorado can maybe salvage the season with a revamp in goal-tending. While Korpisalo wouldn't necessarily be the answer, he is young and has proven he can play well. he can be a hedge for a future no. 1 if Grubauer cant win the job. would be playing with "house money" with the 3rd rounder, could be COLss and not OTT's.
COL
  1. Carlsson, Gabriel
  2. Korpisalo, Joonas
Additional Details:
For the CBJ, you know you are losing Bob. While this leaves you with two goalies on expring contracts, I think Varlamov could get resigned for term (3x$4.5?) that would let Elvis marinate before getting thrown to the wolves. Also this gets you a draft pick out of the situation. I Don't think Bob will get moved bc he wont bring enough back to justify it. I think the CBJ have to get a proven starter goalie. I think Kopri is a no.1, but if I'm the CBJ, I'm taking my chances on Elvis taking over in 2-3 years. I understand this trade is a huge stretch, which goes against my team description. Carlsson has regressed significantly, but I know COL has wanted him in the past.

Honestly I wouldnt even do Abramov for Coyle. I love Coyle as a target, but Abramov has been on fire lately and another year in the AHL could do wonders for him. He has super high upside

Abramov could have even more upside than Bjorkstrand. Bjorkstrand is extremely talented, but very inconsistent at this point in time.
Also, IMO, G Veeti Venielainen is really developing at a high level and may push Elvis to be the next goaltending heir apparent to Bob.
