Love it for Rangers. Peter Holland is not an NHL player. Raddysh probably will be.

To be fair Holland has NHL experience, he's having a very good year on the AHL, he's a responsible defensive center, and provides depth for CHI in the AHL without taking up a spot on the 23 man roster.

For NYR none of these things are very important right now and would much rather have a 22 year old prospect than a 28 year old AHLer providing depth for a team in the playoff hunt.

Fair trade I believe, both teams got what they were looking for.

Raddysh was Strome, DeBrincat (and McDavid's) teammate in Erie, so I'm especially disappointed we couldn't create some more magic. Not sure about his NHL potential, but perhaps he could eventually fit on the bottom pairing, sooner rather than later. Some people I've talked to think he's NHL ready

It's a good trade for both teams. Seems like Hawks wanted someone who could lead a young group of forwards or come up in case an injury happens. They also do not need another RHD when they have Jokiharju and Boqvist coming up at some point.

Interesting thought: I think acquiring Raddysh could make Pionk even more expendable than he already was.

His skating is his biggest issue, which can be turned around since he is still so young. Just focus on that this offseason and he's good. He's a decent defender and can contribute offensively, low-key good move for the rangers. He'll probably spend another year in Hartford (with Shattenkirk, Pionk & DeAngelo on the roster-- he doesn't beat them) but if one of them get traded he'll be an alright 3rd pairing guy
