People don't understand how valuable Melo is to Ottawa. He's been our best defensive Dman, and he works perfectly with Hotsam Batcho. Not going anywhere.

The thing is...OTT doesn’t need him. Considering their situation.

What are you talking about? He's currently the only RD in our org who deserves to be in the NHL night in night out. He's only 25, so he still fits into the rebuild, and he's a big presence in that locker room. The guys love him, the fans love him, and he's a good player to boot. He's a guy you keep.

Also even if Ottawa "doesn't need him", you don't give him away for nothing. If anything you trade him next deadline after he's had another year to improve and establish himself as of a responsible middle pair option.

Id rather keep the 1st and Simon
A 3rd for Pearson? I kno hes having a down yr but a 26yr old guy with rings and 2 -40 point seasons and a hell of a shot??
+ beware of Dzingle ... he is a solid player but not worth what OTT will want.

I disagree. When's the last time you watched him? He's literally Mike Hoffman 2.0.

not needing a player has nothing to do with their value
