If it ends up working, great! I just couldn't take that chance considering how close we've been to the cup as of late... Especially after last years game 6 + 7 shutouts vs the caps... Personally I wish we'd go all in. No trades is essentially saying you're confident that the cup is 100% ours, and I disagree on that. Yea we're having the best NHL season possibly in history, but I'm not sold on our cup winning ability yet for obvious reasons.

It's okay to believe. I've been pessimistic ever since we lost to the Hawks, I don't believe in making a trade this deadline remember when the caps got shattenkirk and he vanished. We don't need to invest more, this is yzerman's work let it be.

Not saying it's bad to believe, my mindset just tells me to go all in. And that doesn't mean blowing up our prospects and future... I love everything yzerman did for us, but he didn't get us a cup. We're gonna have to start getting rid of some contracts or we're gonna lose even more players. Making a deadline deal could make us better this year, and also put us in a better spot for cap space going into the offseason + next year.
