Next Year - FLA EDM CGY

Created by: UpsideDownQue
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 21, 2019
Published: Feb. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
assuming the Avs dont get much luck in the lottery again they take Podkolzin 3rd overall and snag Spencer Knight in the middle of the 1st round.

Send Kerfoot to EDM since they are looking for wingers (he would instantly become their 4th best forward behind McDavid, Drai, and RNH) and Pulj doesnt seem to happy there according to many insiders. Pulj is a risk for the Avs but I would be willing to take it. Could either become the next Dylan Strome or continue to struggle and become the next Nail Yakupov.

CGY has been rumoured to be interested in Nemeth and COL looks to be shopping Andrighetto. I dont think COL would get much of a return for them but at the deadline packaged together they may be able to fetch a late 2nd rounder.

An elite forward under contract until 2023 for an elite defender under contract until 2020 + a recent 1st round draft pick. Throw in a 2nd if Barrie leaves in UFA. COL could also retain salary if FLA wants to clear space for a run at Panarin/Bobrovsky in UFA

Donskoi is a versatile right handed forward who can play on the 2nd PP unit and produce at 5 on 5. It just fills a need for COL

Varly is let go as a free agent and the Avs can use Grubauer and Francouz for a few years until Spencer Knight is ready

I would like to see Pulj, Kaut, Timmins, Podkolzin, etc. stay in the AHL for at least another year before being called up

Please dont rip me apart in the comments section because a trade is slightly off in value

CGY isnt giving you a 2nd for that. Maybe a 3rd. FLA trade is interesting but youd need to give up more

It'd make more sense if it was Jost for Puljujarvi 1 for 1. Similar numbers, age, draft spots, etc.

I haven’t watched much of Nemeth to be honest but I don’t think Calgary wants to give up more than a 4th for a guy like him. Del Zotto in Anaheim is another option.

They don’t really have a need for Andrighetto they already have a logjam of forwards as is

Jost has shown more at the NHL level than Puljujarvi , no way I would want to see them do that deal 1 for 1

      Jost 21g 21a 42 pt in 119gm
      Puljujarvi 17g 20a in 139gm

Centre vs Wing. Just cant justify it as a 1 for 1 trade

I feel like its going to be Lazar and a 4th or Nemeth/Ghetto...something like that

I would be ok with that to be honest. Lazar has played well in the AHL, no real spot for him in Calgary as is. Hopefully for him if he gets another chance to play in the NHL he can be more effective now that he has rebuilt some confidence

No. Jost is better than Puljujarvi and plays centre.

I updated it to retain 50% salary on Barrie to help FLA to go after Panarin/Bob. Do you think the value is good now?

Yes for Hoffman but not for Huberdeau. To get Huberdeau is basically going to take The Avs to give the Panthers what they want not what the Avs are willing to give.
