Could see them trading him if they don’t think they can resign him. It starts at Addison and a first though.

nope nope nope.
Neither deal makes sense(for any of the three teams, Pittsburgh, Detroit, or Buffalo). Only one who might approve either deal is Detroit. BTW its better for the pens to just bury him rather than retain 50% unless they are getting a positive return from him. paying 1.5mil anyway you might as well keep him.

Actually, he needs a good set up man to produce. I have watched him play here in Buffalo, while he has talent he cannot do it alone.

I agree, not enough for Skinner, even as a rental we are talking about a LW on his way to a 50 goal season. the return should be at least a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Remember this is Pittsburgh who with Skinner and Sheary in the line up have 3 really good lines. Those picks could turn into really good 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks, not nearly enough. I like Pearson but Sheary is actually better than him, I like Ruhwedel to give Buffalo another RHD, but he would still be the 4th RHD on Buffalo. So this trade leaves a 1st and 3rd for 50 goals, seriously does that seem like enough? So drop Sheary and Ruhwedel, then add a 2nd and I think JB would help out his good friend JR to win another cup.
Here is another idea, let's add future considerations to this trade. Keep the trade as is, then after the season, Pittsburgh trades Skinner back to Buffalo for Ruhwedel. laugh

I would do a 1st this year and 2nd next year plus Pearson for skinner and maybe a late pick or b-c level prospect

I think we agree, I certainly do not want any misunderstanding. This would give Buffalo 4 1st round picks this year, 2 second round picks in 2020 and 2021. I know Addison is Pittsburgh top prospect but he only a "B" level and Buffalo has many like him (Bryson, Guhle, Fitzgerald and Kukkonen), but never hurts to have more. So JB trade Skinner to JR for 2019 1st, 2020 2nd, Pearson and Addison. I know it looks like a lot, but it is a late 1st (nearly a 2nd only a few rounds before the one they gave to Carolina), Addison is about equal to Pu, a 2nd (could also only be a few rounds before the 3rd they gave Carolina) and Pearson is better than the 6th traded to Carolina. So many people will say this is too much, but in reality all Buffalo will gain is Pearson for paying Skinner salary for most of the season. This is my take but I may be in error.

Pearson is pretty much a cap dump for pens. Honestly think buffalo should trade skinner. Lots of youth and they aren’t going to win this year.

You do see how the trade you and I suggested is not much more than Buffalo gave up to get Jeff. I agree that he should be traded, the team is not that good, this should have been a rebuild year after all they lost their #1 GK, #1 LW, #2 C, they have 3 first year defensemen, a first year GK and a back up GK. Who in their right mind thought this this was a playoff team. I would change the 1st and 2nd to next year, include Pearson and Addison maybe the Penguins will suffer from a playoff hang over and finish in the middle of the pack and the picks will be more valuable. Then i saw another trade VAN trades Stecher, Troy; Markus Granlund and 2020 1st round pick (VAN) to BUF for Ristolainen, Rasmus and Sobotka, Vladimír. Make both trade and have 3 first round picks next year as well. Stecher is a good #2 RHD, then the Sabres could try to resign Skinner and other free agents and compete next year but have 6 first round picks over next two years. I know this is crazy.
