Description

Flames trade a guy Ottawa can insert in to their line up right away with term (Frolik) who isn't signed to a huge deal.

They get a high end prospect who is NHL ready and has years before hitting UFA

A guaranteed 1st round pick and a potential second 1st round pick or at the very least a 2nd round pick.

Ottawa retains 30-40% salary to make the cap work.

I'm not sure exactly how the cap hit works at the deadline but I know there is some relief from the full cap hit for the team acquiring. Not sure if it is as simple as 75% of the season is over so Calgary would pay 25% of the cap hit but there is something to it like that.

I'm not saying it will be exactly this, but i think it'll be something fairly close for a team that trades for him. I think Ottawa fans are going to be pretty disappointed in what they get for their 3 big guys in the end. Expectations always overshadow reality.
