UNOFFICIAL: While not yet official (they can't sign the contact yet due to restrictions related to "tagged payroll room" in the CBA), reports are that the Ducks have agreed to an extension of Jakob Silfverberg for 5 years at around a $5.25m yearly cap hit. They are expected to make it official either once they're able to shuffle around some salary or after March 1st when the "tagged payrool" cap increases.

This is a little much for a deal on a guy who plays 2nd line minutes.

Especially for a team that's already in a cap crunch. It's a head-scratcher for sure.

I think someone is going to be heading out after the season especially with how much of a cap crunch they are in now.

They were in a cap crunch before this deal. The reason it can't be signed yet is related to how much salary they're already carrying into next season.
