I'd rather the Jets just rethink the way they deploy him. Having him handle zone exits and entries for his line completely takes him out of the play along the boards. I don't have a problem with Laine, and given that PoMo has had Connor play on the 4th line, Laine play on the 4th line last year, and that they're not doing it this year, it's kinda obvious the guy is just doing what he's told.

Laine was in line for a big pay day if it wasn't for this year. He had 18 goals in one month and terrible the rest of the year.

Do you think he bets on himself and signs a bridge deal? That would help the Jets cap issues.

I am hoping he snaps out of his slump, plays big in the playoffs, team wins the cup, and he gets a big payday. All worth winning the cup!

Trade him then in the off season. He scores a lot of goals but that is it. Sign Stone and Connors, they contribute in all aspects of the game. Trouba and Myers might both be gone after this year. Use Laine to get a young RD like Pesce, Montour, or Parayko and more.

Agreed that the time to trade Laine and other key pieces in Winnipeg would be in the off-season. Add one or more pieces to this year is all we should do.
