Home run for the Devils. Godness gracious that's bad for the Stars. Lovejoy shouldn't fetch even the third alone and Carrick is a doable reclamation project.

bigger return than I was expecting. but lovejoy is the a scapegoat here in jersey and isnt nearly has bad as people mad him out to be. will be incredibly serviceable, eat a lot of minutes and be an excellent PK guy for the stars, as well as be a good influence in the locker room

Man Shero is a beast when it comes to trading. Lovejoy should have been a 4th alone tops.

This is true, but it is still an overpayment.

Good return for Lovejoy, but can Shero please stop trading for small puck moving defense-men. Lovejoy was 35 and playing the 2nd most penalty kill minutes in the league, since no one else on the team can play defense; Vatanen, Butcher, Greene, and now Carrick. The best defensive Dman the Devils have now is Eric Gryba.

Carrick doesn't have a big frame but he's nasty prick and can be physical.

I didn't realize Carrick had zero trade value these days.

I always thought he looked fine on the Leafs bottom pair ... and he's still only 24.

Well they are tanking so they don’t need him on the PK.

Idk why Dallas did this. Lovejoy is not a bad player, but i wouldn't have given up a 3rd and Carrick for him.

I think every single Devils fan is extremely happy with this trade. Countless times Lovejoy has been extremely slow, out of position, and a big liability out there on the ice. We were all thinking maybe a 4th or 5th for him. This is a complete win for us.

Not surprised. That's a lot for Lovejoy even if he wasn't on an expiring contract. He's likely a rental and that makes it even worse.

Lovejoy played well in Pittsburgh. He helped the D core in a cup run. The Penguins just couldn't afford to resign him. He went to NJ to have his career end. I think that has more to do with NJ than it did Lovejoy. It might be possible he plays well for Dallas in a playoff push.

this is a very lopsided trade. Also says a lot about negotiating skills of a GM when lovejoy gets a 3rd plus a player and dallas only gave up a fourth for Oleksiak who is a better player than Lovejoy.

I watched Lovejoy all season. He brings zero offense and he's slightly below average 5 on 5 defensively. He's pretty solid on the PK though. I'm actually shocked! NJD scored big here.
