One defensively irresponsible Dman for another.

Don’t watch Miller enough, but his underlying numbers are very solid. I think he’d be a good add

Leafs might not have to add if they allow Vegas to talk with Gardiner's agent about an extension and feel they could get one done. If he's a pure rental, then yeah they would definitely have to add something in.

In a dried up D rental market, as things currently stand, a healthy Jake Gardiner could probably net the Leafs a 1st round draft pick and a mid-level prospect. So does that directly equal the value of Miller, who has a decent term and AAV? Perhaps the Leafs throw in a 2020 3rd round pick and Dmitri Timashov?

Interestingly, if this was a sign-and-trade scenario, where the Knights extended Gardiner as part of the deal, I'd imagine Vegas would have to add something instead.

Yes, but Babcock gets the right shot he wants. (Personally I think the whole handedness thing is ridiculous but Babcock is big on it.)

Miller was playing way out of his league when he was asked to replace Nate Schmidt's minutes. As a top-4 and nothing more, he's a smooth skating, hard-hitting defenseman with a great point shot. Ideally, he'd play with Jake Muzzin, not Morgan Reilly.

Still, he’s an upgrade on Zaitsev. Leafs should’ve went for Jensen on Detroit.

Find it hard to believe Vegas would trade a RHD with term when they have only one other in Engelland who is a UFA to be for a LHD when they have plenty already and Brannstrom and Hague on the way. Makes no sense, but then again they gave up 1st,2nd,3rd for Tatar last year so ?‍♂️

Jensen is NOT a top pairing defender and it cost quite a lot for the Caps. Hard to say whether other teams knew there was an extension possibility that immediately, because the term and AAV seem fair and all things considered.

Yeah that’s the thing. I agree 100%. They have no other Legit RHD’s unless gallant doesn’t mind playing guys on their off hand. I bet gardiner would resign

He’s not a top pairing D but he’s much better than what they already have. Caps gave up a bust D prospect (most likely) and a 2nd. Leafs could’ve done something like that
