Solid in the AHL. Might as well sign him if you believe he can become a backup one day.

It’s been a great week for mid-20-something, career AHL, 4th string goalies this week!

I suppose GM’s see other teams making moves so they have at least 4 options at the pro level and don’t want to be left without a “proven” pro option in the remote event where there are multiple injuries to their goalies. It costs nothing other than a contract spot, and for most teams they’ve got a few to burn right now.
