If Hayes is willing to sign in MTL (as the trade suggests) why wouldn't the habs just sign him in the offseason and keep all of those assets? Not like the habs have to go for it this year.

Thought this was going to be a McQuaid post. I think MTL should look into him more so than Hayes.

MTL doesn’t need McQuaid. They already have Benn as a 3rd pairing RD.

It’s not an an awful offer but If Hayes signs an extension it probably needs a 1st, Suzuki/Jesse Ylonen, C Fleury and Olofsson.

Oh I am well aware I was only saying if I had to pick a ranger they would pursue it would be him. But MB was at the game Saturday so maybe they were thinking of acquiring Namestnikov? Who knows.
