Apparently the asking price for Stone is astronomical. Flames had something in the works last night, and had to back out because the deal was getting too costly. Sens are right to ask for the sun and stars for him.

Simmonds is probably a cheaper acquisition. You can probably get him for a second and a conditional pick if you go off of the Nyquist trade.

Toffoli : conditional 2nd round pick ( if you win two playoffs round the pick become a first round pick)+ a prospect level B

Simmonds: same than Toffoli

Stone: 2 first round pick + 2 good prospects

I really don't get it. Boston has like 10 prospects on offense and 3 on defense. They cant even let go of 2 of them for Stone. That's crazy, they should be all in on that without giving up Debrusk

Don Sweeney is too attached to the youth. I've honestly never seen anything like it. And he has a hard on for 1st rounders even tho he historically hasnt done well in the 1st round. Debrusk is the only 1st rounder on our big club that belongs to him. Vaak looks like the next guy he could hit on but other than that everyone that has real potential has been 2nd round or later.

yeah like theres not that many spots for them plus the core is getting older. Going all in on a 3 year window should be the goal

He drafted mcavoy and frederic as well. And 2015 was more gretzky than sweeney making the call imo

I totally agree, I can't really see Stone being here long term and I think thats whats holding Sweeney back but to get Chara a chance at a Cup should be the goal this year. Our farm could be a little weaker and we might not have a 1st for a year or two but the goal is to win the Cup.

If im Ottawa id be ok with Zboril + JFK + 2019 1st and 2020 1st (if he re-signs). Plus id be willing to take Backes if he waives for an extra 2nd or someone like Bjork

Forgot about him lol. McAvoy was like a no brainer at that point. Only other guy they could've taken was Chychrun. Frederic looks okay, still needs development but in his quick stint he hasnt looked like anything special.

And if I'm Don Sweeney I say where do I sign, not even worried about Backes right now. We could talk about him come summer time or find out where he wants to be traded.

Thatd be the lowest Ottawa should take tho and that's only if theres no one left and they have to settle. That initial ask with Debrusk is insane. However, at this time if im Dorion im trying to hold on or drive the price to something like Zboril + Studnicka and 2 1sts (2020 conditional)

Yeah Dorion has done a good job so far. They have plenty of picks now to move up and down in the draft if they want to go get a guy or drop down and get someone. The next two drafts are huge for that organization.

If they can get at least a 1st and 2nd in a Stone trade they will have like 15 combined picks in the first 2 rounds of the next 3 drafts

someone else gets Stone then. Its all good tho, Boston's window will be closing soon if they don't make a move to challenge Tampa in the next 2 years
