They just made NSH a top 3 contender in the league. highway robbery. First Nino to CAR and now this. MIN has been absolutely decimated. Did I miss something? Is Peter Chiarelli the GM in MIN?

Fiala is 22, Granlund is 27 tomorrow
Fiala is a RFA, Granny only had 2 years remaining before he'll want $8-9M (according to Russo, he was going to ask for this kind of money for his next contract).
In Fiala's first full NHL season, he scored 23 goals. Granlund scored 13. Note: Fiala averaged 15 minutes per game while Granlund averaged 18.
Fiala is more of a shooter (kind of coincides with my last point) and is extremely dangerous 1 on 1
Fiala is a much better skater than Granlund
Fiala has been amazing at even strength, scoring 19/23 and 9/10 goals during even strength last year and this year, respectively.
Fiala's Corsica and Fenwick are insanely good: 55.0% CF over career and 53.6% CF this year (in a slumping year) and 54.7% FF over career and 53.4% FF this year. Compared to Granlunds 50.0% CF career 52.4% CF this year and 50.6% FF career and 53.3% FF this year
Fiala's heatmap is very good. To sum it up, he's better than Granlund at 5v5 but slightly weaker at 5v4.
Fiala still has room to grow, Granlund has probably hit his ceiling.
Fiala's contract extension will be very reasonable.

Don't think anyone expected Granlund to hit a wall when he got to Nashville.

Went from 0.75 PPG in his last 79 games with Minnesota to 0.44 PPG in his 79 games with Nashville. Can't blame him for wanting to leave.

Precisely. I was wrong when I called NSH the clear winner, but I'm glad I was wrong.

I think both teams won. Fiala was not going to make an impact in Preds, and Granlund is playing probably his best hockey in NSH.

MIN walked with a W, but can't say NSH took a massive L.

Minnesota still has a chance to cap their value on this trade and start losing the long-term of this deal depending on what they do with Fiala this summer. If the return is underwhelming and Granlund continues to excel in Nashville, it'll stop looking like such a clear-cut win for the Wild.

I feel though Granlund though is kind of what the Wild need rn lul. They still dont got that true top 6 center other than Eriksson Ek.

Like Hartman has been good but this could just be a one off. And Gaudreau really is a 3c or 4c on any other team.

Fiala is nice but Wild to me still need another top 6 center.

MIN is gonna lose Fiala this summer, probably for futures. And they don't have the cap space to replace him.

Exactly. If Fiala walks and Granlund continues to be a glue guy for the Preds, the complexion of this trade changes completely.

Well Fiala isn't going to "walk." He's an RFA and will likely get traded for good assets.

Depends. Rossi could come up and dominate in the NHL next season

Boldy's emergence has been a huge blessing for this team. If Rossi steps in and steps up, losing Fiala won't sting nearly as much.
