Ouch. Two long term, somewhat expensive Dmen as scratches.

trades are coming. It's only a matter of time.
Come the draft i see a lot of dead weight cleared out. They have to basically right the ship next year or realize it's time to trade Crosby and Malkin out and start the rebuild. Malkin will be 33 next year, Crosby 32. There is only another year or two left there.

To be fair, the post is wrong. There's no way Maatta sits for Riikola. Now Grudbranson and Johnson might sit which is just as bad. Sullivan doesn't like or trust Riikola enough to play him over Maatta or Johnson. Maatta's also far superior.

Simon also plays over Wilson in reality not this fantasy land.

Crosby will never be traded. Letang probably not. Malkin maybe. Kessel probably.
But they need to unload about 6-8M of cap space if they want to keep Pettersson, Riikola and ZAR while not being up against the ceiling. Going to be an interesting off-season.

Sadly "lots" of teams have to unload cap.....Pens, Tampa, Leafs, Jets, Ducks (although they unload Montour) Some teams with cap space might be able to pick up some NHL calibre players very cheap.

There very well could be a time he's traded. There will be a realization that there needs to be a full rebuild. And it's only fair to let him chase cups.

I'm not against moving him but the outcry from the fan base would be too much. I know if Gretzsky can be dealt anyone can but it's highly unlikely and I'm sticking with will never happen. Definitely wont happen this off season.

only a year or two left.. you realize were talking about a top 5 player all time in Crosby and one of this generations top talents in Malkin. Obviously, decline is inevitable, but to say they have 2 years left is absolutely ridiculous. Jumbo still a solid contributor at 40, Giordano making a case for Norris in late 30s.. the list can go on. To write them off in 2 years further proves to me you literally know nothing about hockey

ARE YOU DRUNK? We are NEVER trading the best player in the world. Wake up bud.

Wilson is much better for our team than Simon. Simon may be talented but Wilson just causes plays to happen. As for Maatta he's a Yellow Pilon.

I don't disagree with you about Wilson/Simon but those that matter (see Sullivan) do
You couldn't be more wrong about Maatta.

I don't think the fan base will be mad when they realize the run is over.

Jumbo is a shell of himself. He has been for a long time. The game is getting younger and faster every season. It's not realistic to think Crosby will play till he's 40. Every player will age out. You look at Malkin in two years he's 34. The next year he is 35. You really going to tell me a 35 year old malkin is going to be the same player he was at 29?
All players decline. Yes I'm sure Crosby would be a good 3C center at 35. But do you really think he's going to run at 1C? Lets be honest about it. At some point a total rebuild is coming. Everyone has known for some time there is a window and that it is closing. 2 years is a long time. Expectations for players being impact players at 35 years old is slim.

When did I ever say Malkin was going to be the same player he was at 29 at 35... I literally said they're going to decline.. lol. If you could read. Point being, in 2-3 years, Crosby and Malkin are still going to be top 20-25 players in the league, easily.
