Only 13/21 upcoming draft picks remaining

Better hope the playoffs are fun or there's no going back

Jackets. Still have opportunity to make trades at season end. Wennberg (if Duchene signs), Bob & Panarin’s rights to another team, whoever wants a jump on the others to negotiate with them.

Prospect pool still somewhat deep and only 50m on the books next year so they can restock thru FA.

But ya, there will be a mass exodus of talent this summer.

It’s def all in.

I think Dzingel plays with Duchene and Panarin sticks with Dubois.

I'm confused, Isn't Korposalo a better backup option than Kinkaid?? Also what are they going to do about that CAP hit?

Korpisalo is having a pretty bad year below .900 save % and Kinkaid has some playoff experience so they can maybe fall back on him if Bob is underwelming in the playoffs again and for the cap don't ask me i'm sure they have an idea or not we will see

I wouldn't get my hopes to high about Wennberg, you probably be paying someone to take him off your hands. Panarin is going to 2-3 places, so there will not be a feeding frenzy to get his rights. Bob, maybe a 5th rounder for the rights.

Yeah, they better make that 3rd round pick count smile Anything other than Cup is a failure, so pressure is definitely on the GM and coaching stuff. Early exit will likely mean that no UFA will sign with Columbus either. So pressure is high....

Personally i don't think not winning the cup is a failure.
1. The organization is very well stocked at the prospect level at every position for the next 3 years already.
F: Robinson, Stenlund, Fix-Wolensky, Texier, Fortier, Marchenko, Karlberg, Foudy, Bemstrom, & Sherwood
D: Kukan, Collins, Gavrikov, Peeke, Berni
G: Merzlikens, Vehvilainen, Kivlenieks, Tarasov

The Jackets have done a phenomenal job in scouting & developing compared to where they were pre-Davidson/Kekkalainen era.

The goal, obviously, is to make the playoffs.
Advancing to at least 2nd round would be minimum acceptable goal given the moves that were made & draft assets that were expended.
That being said, just showing the players on the roster (both signed & UFA/RFA) that the team is committed to winning and the fans of Columbus, will go a long way with credibility and re-signing many of the UFAs. Anything short of not re-signing 2 of the 4 UFAs would be failure, but the moves may also help attract a top UFA from another team come 7/1 as well.

Not winning the CUP would put the Jackets in the same boat as 30 other teams, short of the ultimate goal.
Not having the full compliment of draft picks does suck, but we will ultimately have more at the draft table than the current compliment that we have.

Not winning the CUP will not put the Jackets in the same boat as 30 other teams, because those team have most of their picks and prospects. CBJ traded most of their pics away.

You don't trade most of your draft picks and some prospects to make playoffs, or even advancing to 2nd round is not enough either. Its well known fact they are going all in for the Cup.

And having all those UFA on your roster will not make anyone want to sign up with you, because A) you will still have to have them sign, and that will be hard to do, and B) even if you sign some, good luck getting other good UFAs because now you have little money left. You have to develop you picks mostly and use UFA as an emergency mostly, especially in SalaryCap era.

It kind of reminds me of what NYR used to do in late 90s and most 2000s, they just would trade their picks and acquire all the UFA superstars they can get their hands on, and yes 0 cups came off of it.
